Commission

This week I have completed a commission for a friend who is opening an upmarket B&B in the village.

The house is early Edwardian and has many original features.

This picture is to go above the fire in one of the rooms and  I hope it will go well with the tiles that are part of the cast iron fireplace.

I chose to create a textured background which I think is more interesting than a flat wash on such a large area and I have been very pleased with the way the lilies turned out.

It is due at the framer's at the end of the week. I shall then be on tenterhooks until it is
delivered and  - hopefully - admired....

This is what the tiles look like.

The small butterfly in the bottom left-hand corner is a lovely touch...

Moonraking

At the moment I am sitting in my studio waiting for the lanterns of Moonraking to pass by.

The whole of this week has seen much activity and excitement as everyone has been working towards today.

Lanterns have been created and much making and practising of music has gone on.

The procession should pass us at about 8ish and we have the best vantage point in the whole village I think from the back of the studio looking over the wall as the procession moves towards us. Because of this we tend to get a lot of visitors with bottles dropping in....

Art Fair

Make a date in the diary...

Uppermill Gallery

Earlier this month I was asked by the Millyard Gallery in Uppermill which is 'ovver t' tops'as they say in this part of the world, if I would bring over some flower pieces. They thought it would be rather nice to have a  window display for Valentine's Day.

They took six of the seven pieces I showed them and I was very pleased.

How nice it would be if someone bought a picture of a flower which will last for a very long time instead of a bunch of flowers which will quickly fade........

I live in hopes..........

I should really have cleared away all my rubbish on the chair - it does rather spoil the picture. I shall never be a photographer.....

Latest piece

TRILLIUM PAGE.

I do rather love trilliums but have no room to grow them and they don't really do well in the UK anyway being natives of North America. Their seeds are spread by ants - now there's a thing.....

Completed this rather dense piece this week and have been quite pleased with it. There's a lot wrong with it I think - but I'm not saying what!!!

It will look better framed...

Flickr photos...

Have spent ages uploading stuff on to flickr - what a tedious job.

I can never understand why when I click on  a button one thing happens and when I click on it again - something else happens.

I become VERY frustrated..!
