It's Slawit Bob's Birthday!!!

Slawit Bob is now a whole year old.

No more puppy crumbs for him - he's eating Big Boy's Food from now on.

He doesn't know it yet but a trip to the vet is on the cards.

Just to ensure that everything is in order you understand.
Slawit Bob wouldn't want his fans to think that anything was not quite right with him...

A Tulip for Monday...

A bit of colour for an extremely dull day.

I think I quite like this. Was pleased with the way that the leaves turned out.

When framed this will be approx. 12" x 14" and will cost £195.

Developing botanical work.

I have always wanted to paint what I class as proper botanical paintings and when visiting
Chelsea Flower Show this year I came across the work of Evelyn Binns which is completely stunning.
She runs a course down in Cornwall.
She very kindly sent me details of this before publicising it.
It was £850 for 3 days and 4 nights.
Obviously - I had to decline the offer...........!!!

So - armed with a couple of very good books, one of which is published by the Eden Project, I have decided to have a go at 'doing it myself' and this piece is what I have come up with so far.

I do rather like the effort and concentration involved although my eyes tend to go a bit funny after a while and I have to look at something else for a bit.

Needless to say the picture is nowhere near as good as I would like but I am quite pleased at how it is coming along. I have one more tulip to do then it is finished.

I am going to attempt a 'miniature' white orchid next - that is - the image will be small not the orchid!

Solo exhibition at the Revive gallery, Heckmondwike.

I have several pieces of work in an exhibition
in Heckmondwike for the month of October.

The gallery is part of a rather stylish complex which includes the coffee shop, and is organised by the extremely competent and well-organised, Pam Lonsdale who is also  a maker of  fine jewellery.

It's lovely to have the space to show one of my bigger pieces to advantage.

There is also a selection of unframed, mounted pieces which are a bit easier on the pocket.

It's a much-appreciated opportunity to show my work to a larger audience - thank you, Pam...x

New Work

FLARE

FLAME

I have decided to work with felting needles and rather lovely soft merino wool as a way of continuing my exploration  of the relationships between colours.

These two first little pieces have proved to be quite successful I think and are
4" square.

I enjoy the restrictions and possibilities of this size and work within it regularly.

Both pieces are for sale, unframed for £25 plus P&P.

The sun shines on Slaithwaite...

Slawit Studio is all ready for

HOST

this weekend.

Even the sun is shining and my festival flag glows beautifully in the light attracting all and sundry - I hope...

Please note how tidy everything looks - it doesn't happen often and I would like it noted....
